STEM Summer Camps 2019
We are excited to offer summer camps in the Leander area focused on STEM subjects! Students can register for as many summer camps as they like.
JUNE 3-7 THE SCIENCE OF COOKING CAMP
Our first camp is delicious! Our campers will explore the science behind many of their favorite foods. What makes bread rise? Why does ice cream melt? Hands on egg-speriments (no, really, we’re making eggs!), pretzel baking, taste testing, and more make this a unique experience not to be missed! We will explore the different states of matter and the senses of taste and smell by getting our hands dirty in the kitchen. Bon appetit!
JUNE 10-14 STOP MOTION ANIMATION CAMP
Action! Our campers turn into movie makers as they write, film, and edit short stop motion animations. Campers will learn how to storyboard, and touch on the history of animation. This creative and fun-filled week is sure to inspire!
JUNE 17-21 SCIENCE LAB CAMP
Let your little Scientist make discoveries with experiments, activities, and hands-on projects! Topics including Electricity, Magnetism, Energy, Gravity, and Chemistry make this a fun-filled week of exploration! Put on your thinking cap and join us!
JUNE 24-28 MAKERSPACE CAMP
Calling all Engineers! This immersive session introduces campers to the Engineer Design Process with Simple Machine building challenges, Circuits, Construction, and more. Think outside the box and design your future!
JULY 1-5 WEATHER WORLD CAMP
Let’s make some snow (in the summer!) Our Weather Camp explores tornados, hurricanes, clouds, precipitation, and all sorts of fun weather phenomenon. Our campers will build and use weather instruments as they become “storm catchers”.
JULY 8-12 MISSION TO MARS CAMP
3…2…1…blast off! Our Space Camp is focused on the red planet this year! Students will be investigating Mars, and designing and building space habitats for colonization. We will live like astronauts, and experiment with gravity (and communicate with aliens!) This week will truly be out of this world!
JULY 15-19 ANIMAL KINGDOM CAMP
It’s a jungle out there! During our Animal Kingdom Camp, we learn all about the scientific advantages of different types of animals as we answer some big questions: Why are some animals nocturnal? How do animals use camouflage? How do bees make honey? We also challenge ourselves to create animal habitats using the Engineering Design Process. We’d be “lion” if we said this week wasn’t going to be wild!
JULY 22-26 DINOSAUR DISCOVERY CAMP
Calling all carnivores and herbivores! Dig deep as we experiment with dinosaur bones, fossilization, paleontology, and more! We will be engineering our own unique dinosaurs and investigating the age old question: What happened to the dinosaurs?!
JULY 29 - AUGUST 2 LEGO ROBOTICS CAMP
Legos and robots…what could be better? Join us for a fun-filled week in which students are challenged to build and program lego robots that solve problems! This year, they will be designing robots that assist animals as we become “Animal Allies”. This lego camp focuses on programming, creative engineering, and team-building skills!
AUGUST 5-9 STEM SUPERHERO CAMP
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a STEM Super Hero! This week, we experiment with using science and engineering to create our own super powers. Bionic hands, Zip lines, X-ray vision and more! Your child will “marvel” at the fun we’ll have as we save the world!
Each week's camp will focus on a specific STEM theme including lego robotics, space, cooking, and so much more!
Field trips on each session and Lunch & snacks included
